Spa Marketing Resources: Internet Marketing
News, Buzz and Your Spa
"The Olympics" and "The Country’s Mood at Historic Low"… What do these two things have in common?
They’re current or recent news stories…and with a little marketing creativity, you can capitalize on these topics to create buzz for your spa. Use the news to your advantage.
Example 1: The Olympics. They’re about achievement, recognition, medals, and awards. But what do they have to do with your day spa?
Get creative. Few businesses have the resources to be an Olympic sponsor, but your day spa may be able to support the Special Olympics in your area. Generate buzz by making a pledge to donate some dollar amount for every medal won by Team USA. No resources for that? How about donating a small percentage of every service performed during the Olympic games? What a great way to support a worthy cause, while increasing business during an otherwise slow period.
Publish that on your website, in your blog, and in your newsletter. Create an online press release and be sure to send a copy to your local newspaper(s).
Example 2: " The Country’s Mood at Historic Low" – so says a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. Poll.
"Well yes" you say, "that’s part of the reason why business has slowed. People have tightened their purse strings."
True enough, but…
Day spas are in the business of stress release. Now more than ever, people need to relax and they need your services. Mood elevation is one of the things that you do best. So use that news story to your advantage.
Why not create a new spa package with this fact in mind? Focus your next newsletter on mood elevation. Offer useful tips for people to improve their dispositions. Introduce a new Mood Elevation package with great fanfare. Give your subscribers what they really want – engaging content that matters, and impacts the quality of their lives! But don't stop there. Be sure to publish an online press release and spread the word on your blog.
Finding topics for your marketing communications can be a daunting challenge – especially ones that will resonate with clients, website visitors, and the press. Dare to be different and get the attention you so rightfully deserve.
